I will come to your home and train your dog, either by coaching you or by doing the training myself and then showing you how to continue the trained behaviors. The initial consultation takes approximately ninety minutes. During this time, you tell me about you and your dog, what your history together is and what your hopes for the future are. Together we'll craft a plan how to get there.
Among my areas of focus are:
I don't know if Lillian Gish was a dog person, but she nailed the problem for many of us when she said "You can get through life with bad manners, but it's easier with good manners." No matter how deeply you love your dog life would still be better if she didn't lunge in front of you, terrorize your visitors or sprinkle chaos about on your daily walk. From the dog's perspective, all this not only perfectly reasonable, it's great fun! From your perspective, it's grounds for mayhem. I can help both ends of the leash develop the manners necessary to bring peace to the household.
You're getting a puppy-that's great! Did you know that there is a socialization period that ends roughly around 16 weeks? Proper socialization during this time can set your pup up for a lifetime of success. There are also periods when your puppy will be more sensitive to environmental influences (some call these fear periods). He may need some extra help from you during this time. I'll help you learn how to help your pup successfully navigate these stages and start learning how to learn.
It's a scary world out thereā¦skateboards and trucks and OMG, vacuum cleaners! Whether your dog already has a list of things that he's afraid of or you hope to avoid developing that list, there are ways to make the world a less frightening place for him. I can help you and your pup learn how to be brave in the face of the terrors of everyday life. I mean really, aren't we all a bit frightened of vacuum cleaners?
